Five Nights at Freddy's 2
Well, I can't believe it. I just cannot believe it. Five Nights at Freddy's, a film I felt was very okay, and not very scary, got a sequel, and I do have some very intense thoughts, so let's talk about that.
So, this film takes place about a couple years after the first one and follows Mike Schmidt, played by Josh Hutcherson, and his sister Abby, played by Piper Rubio. Specifically, it deals with Abby trying to bring back the original animatronics that instead leads to her unleashing a ghost with a murderous rage against all adults. If this sounds like an idiot plot, then great, we agree.
This is a really dumb idea. Like, after the horrors Abby went through in the first film, why would she want to revisit the cause of a lot of those said horrors? Also, this film feels less like a sequel and more like a side story, where the William Afton plot takes a backseat to this new story involving a murdered girl named Charlotte and her rage at being ignored by all the adults in her life. Like, it just felt kind of inconsequential, and they introduce new characters that don't have much effect on the main plot, yet they should be very obviously more involved.
Was this film scary? Again, not really. It was more just another alternate retread of the original that didn't do much different in my eyes. I, overall, was very disappointed with this film and I felt they could've tried a lot harder to improve on what didn't work in the first story, but instead, we got a film that didn't really have a need to exist, in my personal opinion.
Do yourself a favor, and give this one a skip. You're not missing anything, unless a Five Nights at Freddy's die hard and like to see all the references this film throws at you.
