Scream 3

How do these movies keep being good? I can't believe it, but this one is another winner for me. And, of the three I've watched, this one has been my favorite. Considering the series was originally supposed to be a trilogy, this film ends things off quite nicely.

The story focuses on the cast of the fictional film Stab 3, because Hollywood in the Scream universe still banks on murder, who get picked off one by one, while also bringing previously unknown revelations about Sidney Prescott's past. Obviously, that means that Gail Weathers and Dewey are back as well, and arguably they have even bigger roles in this film on par with Sidney, which was very great because I love their characters so much.

As with the previous two films, this is a slasher film that also is very self-aware about its film conventions, and this one is all about trilogies, since, again, this was originally supposed to be the last film in the series. Where the kills were more intense in the first couple of films, this one is more focused on the story, and, again, this one had me guessing the whole time. I kept thinking the killer was one person, but then it turned out to be someone I wasn't even expecting, and the motivation was quite shocking as well.

The acting is arguably the strongest as things just keep getting better, and this is a series with, for me anyways, no duds so far. Again, Campbell, Cox, and Arquette make the film, but there were also a few cameos from other actors where I kept saying "Oh, look! It's that person!" I felt like the movie was catered to people who love not just horror movies, but movies in general.

Overall, this was a great ending to the original three films, a fun horror movie, and I only wonder what could possibly come next.

Mario Marathon Part 4: Super Mario Land

Well, this was certainly a game, or at least, a good demonstration of one. This is one of the more bizarre Mario games out there, so let's talk about why that is. Super Mario Land was the first portable mainline Mario game, released for Nintendo's black and white Game Boy. So how did Mario on the go end up doing? Well, quite weirdly as mentioned earlier. While it is a 2D platformer like the other games reviewed so far, this game definitely tried to stand out in ways no other Mario game really has done before. The story follows Mario as he tries to save the kingdom of Sarasaland and its princess, Daisy, from the evil alien Tatanga. Already a departure from the norm for sure, but even the enemies are weird. For example, Koopas now turn into bombs when you jump on them instead of just hiding in their shells so you can kick them later on. Mario Marathon Part 1: Super Mario Bros

I like Mario, that much is clear from the random beginning of this specific marathon, but regardless, there has been so much Mario content that has come out over the last few years that a review of all the Mario games I consider important sounds like a no-brainer.
